Digital currency exchange Coinbase has awarded its first-ever Bitcoin Core developer grants, and a familiar name is amongst the recipients.João Barbosa and 0xB10C, the alias of a pseudonymous designer, were chosen winners earlier today. The financing amounts werent exposed, Coinbase said both developers will “be funded to work on Bitcoin for all of 2021″ in quantities payable through BTC or USD. As Coinbase states: Both candidates showed a constant history of contributing to Bitcoin Core, and offered the Funds advisory board […] with a clear, actionable overview of the projects they plan to deal with.” Barbosas advancement work was previously moneyed by crypto mining company Bitmain prior to his grants were quickly cut along with fellow designer Jonas Schnelli. Today, I lost my sponsorship.
After more than 3 years, Bitmain chose to stop funding Bitcoin Core designers (also Joao Barbosa/promag).
